Lady and the Gentlemen presents a heart-warming Americana sound filled with the love of soul. While pushing the envelope as musicians and simultaneously remembering the roots of great American music, Lady and the Gentlemen will move you not only musically, but will inspire sentiment.
“Music pulled me out of so many dark times in my life, it really seems to be the only thing that can truly speak to people. I have been playing for 10 years – country, rock, hip hop, metal, prog rock – and I will always do my best to push myself as not only a player but a moral musician.”
Music has always been a huge part of my life. When I was a baby, my mom was carrying me around a department store. I would cry and cry and cry until she brought me to a corner of the store where there was music playing and I would immediately stop crying. My mom has told me numerous stories similar to this one. I have been a bass player since October of 2006, and have since delved head first into learning the craft. I received only a few lessons when I was learning so I’m essentially self-taught, however this is a blessing in disguise. This enabled me to learn from all of the greats like Chris Squire, Les Claypool, Flea, Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Geddy Lee, Justin Chancellor, and loads of others.
“Music has always brought joy to my life. It is therapy and with the power of rhythm can heal. I want others to feel the same joy I do. I have been hitting skins with sticks for the past 12 years of my life. I was raised on classic rock, blues, jazz, funk, and symphonic music. Music is a gift and I would like to share it with you!”
“When I was ten years old I found a saxophone in storage at my parents house. I took it upstairs and spent a good fifteen minutes trying to figure out how to assemble it. Once I had all the pieces in relatively appropriate places, I made my first sound. It was by no means a pleasant sound, but it certainly was a joyful one. Ever since then, no matter where I go, my saxophone goes with me, and that initial sense of wonder and excitement never ceases.”
“So, I never wanted to write a bio, but everyone in the band has to write one….So I guess I’ll have to, I’m a stubborn son of a bitch though so I will write this with lots of sarcasm that’ll show em…
It must be said that I have no idea what I’m doing in this music business, I’m 23 years old fresh out of college with a degree many told me would be useless. I’m just kind of guessing my way through life at this point, which is what all other 23 year olds are doing. I suppose I have been playing music since I was 9, so that makes it 14 years with music, and still have no idea what I’m doing but I’m figuring it out bit by bit. For example in this really cool band Lady and The Gentlemen, its got cool people and cool sounds so I guess that’s a start.
My name is Nolan I play keys..
